Online GreenLight Review

This is mostly an incomplete conceptualisation of my city and how i would like it to look. I am in the process of looking into creating more thumbnails that would bring out the ideas i want my final peaces to represent and how they would look.

Hey Katerin - I have a feeling that this might be an opportunity for me to encourage you to ensure you're working as productively as possible on your project work... You've got some very effective thumbnails and it's clear you've got some skills/confidence in terms of digital painting - so I think you could and should be motoring a bit more :)

I'm just going to link you to some of the previous OGR feedback regarding Isaura - these will be useful for you in terms of getting a bit more conceptual grit into the mix. Take a look at these and explore the various links etc:

I'm just going to say right off the bat that I don't like the idea of a 'floating city'... the reason being is 'a floating city' is one of those magic solutions to the practical problems Calvino presents you with: it's a bit of cop out because you can just say 'well, it's magic'. I'd rather you think as 'real world' as possible about this strange city, which will encourage you to design more and see more and imagine more. The idea of the city being suspended over the lake is exciting - but it's much more exciting if you think about how something like that might be possible architecturally - so a huge platform requiring huge supports and so on. This will create more problems - but problems are welcome because they give you more to figure out and draw.

As per the other students' feedback, Calvino specifically alludes to a religious belief that relates to the importance of water and I think you could look at this in an effort to get some specificity into your ideas (as your influence maps themselves seem quite diverse?). I'd do some research around existing water deities - real world belief systems that worship water etc - and use that insight to anchor your ideation into something with a bit more foundation and real world reference re. architectural style, ornamentation, symbolism and so on...
