I have two ideas but I’m not sure if I can go anywhere with them
and build a solid argument for one or the other. I think my second idea is
better than my first one and can be argued about more, but I’m still not sure
if I should scrap both of them and go with a more theory-based idea
Idea 2
Ideas 1
What is the purpose of your essay?
To argue how an over use of Visual effects/CGI can make or break a
film. I also want to show how Visual effects/CGI has been used effectively and
ineffectively in films
What are the big ideas/ key theories?
I want to look how a blend of practically built sets and CGI can
create a better film then a fully CGI one.
What is the historical context of your discussion?
I want to look at how Visual effects/CGI can negatively impact a
Film and the audience watching it. Also looking at how historically Visual
effects/CGI have been used well to help enhance a film and compare them with
films that have used it badly
What is the next step?
Looking at when films became to dependant on VFX/CGI, how it has
been used well in the industry, and how it can make or break a film interim of
viewer immersed
Idea 2
What is the purpose of your essay?
To look at the way films have paved the way of Scientific
imagination, and how changed the way we think.
What are the big ideas/ key theories?
I want to look at Science fiction films such as Star Wars, looking
at how they have changed the way we think of science but also how they have
pushed are imagination of what is possible.
What is the historical context of your Discussion?
What are some of the Key Scientific theories that have been pushed
by films or have been made possible over the years, how films have changed are
way of thinking over the years, interim's of science
What is the next Step?
Look at ways in which films have pushed are imagination such as
space travel and look at key Science Theories that have been imagined by films
and opened are way of thinking.
Evening - a lot of your text here is 'black on black'? Don't you look at your posts after you publish them? Or preview them before you publish? I suggest you do so from now on - just so you know what other people are looking at on your blog.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of your ideas here, I think the interesting one is hinted at by what you're saying about films that combine practical effects with CGI, which is part of a sort of backlash against CGI in films and digital more generally in terms of culture: the mirror of this is happening in terms of music, so vinyl in preference to mp3s etc. The Force Awakens was a) shot on film (not digitally) and b) they made a commitment to using as many real locations (non-green screen) as possible and as many practical effects as possible. I think you could use your research and assignment to try and understand this 'move away' from CGI... I suggest you begin by looking at 'The Uncanny Valley' and CGI ...
